Dodge Sprinter

To start with Dodge Sprinter productuion, the first generation (VA Chassis) American Sprinter was launched in 2001 in the U.S., and originally branded as a Freightliner. Units sold to the rest of North America were badged as Mercedes until 2003 when they received Dodge branding. The first-generation Dodge Sprinter was produced from 2003 to 2006. It had a profile similar to the next second-generation model, but it had less aerodynamic styling. This Sprinter was also available in passenger 2500 and cargo 2500 and 3500 models. For power, this van featured a 2.7-liter turbodiesel five-cylinder engine rated at 154 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission was standard.

The second-generation Dodge Sprinter was sold from 2007 to 2009 as a passenger van or a cargo van. For the passenger version, only the 2500 style was offered, with numerous body choices, including two wheelbases (144 and 170 inches), two body lengths (233 and 273 inches) and two roof heights (standard and high). In 2009 Mercedes claimed back rights to its popular van.

The main criricism for the Dodge Sprinter was its high starting price although it had more to offer than vans from GM or Ford. So what is probably a good option now is to buy a second hand first-generation model for a very decent work van. It was also good as a courier van and the passenger version as a van to shuttle people to the airport or other places.
