New Dodge Ram 1500

The  new Dodge RAM 1500, which is known simply as the RAM in the US and Canada, started production back in 1981. It comes in six different trims - ST, SXT, SLT, TRX, Sport Laramie, and Power Wagon. It also has four different cab options - Crew Cab (new for 2010), Mega Cab, Quad Cab, and Regular Cab.


The Ram 1500 is best in its class for aerodynamic efficiency, it has triple sealed doors for a quieter ride, class exclusive features such as the Ram Box cargo management system and heated steering wheel, with an optional dual exhaust and crew-cab in-floor storage. The multi-link coil rear suspension greatly increases ride comfort and cornering, with only a minimal impact on capacity.

 

 

2010 Ram 1500 model year changes


The gross weight rating rose by 1,500 pounds with the Hemi, 3.92 rear axle, and 140.5 inch wheelbase. A fuel saver indicator was added for the V6, and all engines got Interactive Decel Fuel Shutoff. A trailer brake controller, trailer tow mirrors (folding or power), automatic rearview mirrors, and iPod controller were all introduced as options; passive head restraints became standard. The R/T gained 22 inch wheels late in the year. A 700 amp battery was standard.

The 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 is a top pick in the full-size pickup truck segment thanks to its winning combination of strong performance, smooth ride and a classy cabin.

In conclusion, it has good features such as best-in-class ride quality with a  well-made interior and very useful storage spaces and in general a good interior; a powerful V8.

 

The cons are basically the weak base-model engine with a poorer fuel economy and for the automatic transmission that has five-speed instead of the more desired six-speed.
